Support Finder is a service designed to support people with finding appropriate support and services in their local community and to enable Personal Assistants (PAs) to find work.

Through an accessible and easy to use website, Support Finder allows people to list their support requirements, availability for work or the service they offer. Depending on their membership level, users can either be matched with others who meet their needs or they can search the site independently for them.

Our Vision is:

To provide a service that will match disabled people and PAs. Enabling disabled people to live more independently within their community by engaging appropriate support or services. Raising awareness about the positive role of being a PA. Supporting them to improve their services for disabled people.

Through an online, easy to use and accessible website and from our experienced staff team providing advice, guidance and support, people will be matched to support and services that meet their needs.

We believe that everyone can live independently with the right support. At the heart of everything we do is the social model of disability and the concept of full human rights. We believe that these give a basis for treating everyone with respect, understanding and fairness.

Who are we?

Support Finder is owned and managed by Surrey Independent Living Charity (SILC), a charity led and run by disabled people. SILC has been instrumental in supporting disabled people in the community for nearly 25 years. SILC has a dedicated and knowledgeable staff team who have a lived experience of disability or have many years’ experience of working in the disability sector. In 2006, SILC launched PA Finder, a website that supported disabled people with finding PAs and for PAs to advertise their availability.

Although this served SILC and the Surrey community well, in 2021, to reflect user feedback, offer new services, provide improved features and functionality and to reach and support a wider audience, we launched Support Finder.
